MWINGI LEVEL IV HOSPITAL GETS OXYGEN GENERATING PLANT
Members of the County Assembly Committee on Health and Sanitation led by their Chair Hon. Bernard Munyasya Mwangangi (Mwingi Central) today attended the launch of the Medical Oxygen Plant by H.E The Governor, Dr. Julius Makau Malombe at Mwingi Level IV Hospital.
The oxygen plant which is a donation from USAID in partnership with JHPIEGO and Chemonics International, will enhance service delivery at the hospital and distribute the extra oxygen to other facilities within Mwingi region. The oxygen plant is capable of filling 10 cylinders of 50kgs a day.
In his address, Hon. Bernard Munyasya thanked Governor Malombe for the great work he did at Mwingi Level IV Hospital as the pioneer Governor for Kitui County. ‘’ Your Excellency, we had a plan of building a child care and maternity wing in this facility and I humbly request you to actualize this dream’’, added Hon. Munyasya.
On his part, the Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Evans Mumo asserted that the facility has been spending Kshs.300, 000.00 a month to procure and transport oxygen from Nairobi. ‘’I wish to thank the USAID for training the technical officers who will operate and maintain the oxygen plant’’, added Dr. Mumo.
The event was also attended by Kitui County Deputy Governor, H.E Augustine Wambua Kanani, USAID Kenya East Africa Deputy Mission Director Bert Ubamadu, Kitui County Assembly leadership led by the Majority Leader Hon. Harrison Maluki (Migwani), Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Jeremiah Musee Mutua (Nguni), Majority Party Whip Hon. Bonface Mukwate Katula (Kanyangi) and Deputy Majority Whip (Hon. Godfrey Muthengi Ndagara (Tharaka) and a host of other senior county officers.
This is the second oxygen plant in Kitui County after the one installed at Kitui County Referral Hospital, in Kitui Town.
