THE STATE OF THE COUNTY ADDRESS BY H.E THE GOVERNOR DR. JULIUS MAKAU MALOMBE
This afternoon, H.E the Governor Dr. Julius Malombe delivered his State of the County address at the Assembly chambers.
In his progress in achieving the 16- sector development priorities, the Governor stated that one of his administration’s goal is to make Kitui County water secure for its residents.
In the health sector, the County government has overseen the completion and renovation of stalled maternity units across the county reducing infant mortality rate. In addition, the County Government established a cancer center at the Kitui County Referral Hospital in its quest to bring healthcare services closer to the people of Kitui.
The County Government has also collaborated with the National Government in several projects in the agriculture and water sectors such as the farmer profiling and irrigation infrastructures.
1668 ECDE teachers have been permanently employed and 85 ECDE classrooms constructed in the last 16 months since he took office in a bid to revolutionize the education sector.
The governor lauded the Assembly for passing relevant legislations and passing the budget that enabled him undertake the important initiatives towards implementing his development agendas.
Dignitaries present were Kitui Deputy Governor Hon. Augustine Kanani, Members of the County Assembly led by Hon. Christopher Nzilu (MCA Kyangwithya west and Deputy Speaker), Hon. Harrison Maluki (MCA Migwani and Majority Leader) and, Hon. Alex Nganga (MCA Miambani and Minority Leader), County Security Team led by County Commissioner Mr. Kipchumba Ruto, Kitui High Court Judges and Legal Team led by Hon. Justice Robert Limo and Justice Kimani, Kitui County Executive Committee Members, Kitui County Chief Officers, Members of the Clergy led by Archbishop Raphael Kituva, Kitui Business Community among other leaders.
