THE VETTING EXERCISE FOR CECM NOMINEES KICKS OFF.
County Assembly Committee on Appointments chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya has today commenced the vetting of persons nominated for appointment as County Executive Committee Members. The Assembly approval of appointments to public office by the Governor is governed by the Constitution of Kenya, the Public Appointments (Assemblies Approval) Acts 2017, and the County Assembly Standing Orders.
The Assembly is required to conduct an approval hearing of the nominees to ascertain their suitability for the positions proposed to make appropriate recommendations. The exercise which started on Thursday 15th December 2022 is expected to run through Friday 16th December 2022 and will be taking place in the Assembly Chambers.
First to appear before the vetting committee was Richard John Mwendandu CECM nominee, Ministry for Energy, Environment, Forestry, Natural and Mineral Resources. Other nominees who appeared before the committee for the vetting process were;
- Mrs. Phoebe Ndunyu Mutemi, CECM nominee, Culture, Gender, Youth, ICT, Sports, and Social Services docket.
- Mr. Peter Mwikya Kilonzo, CECM nominee, Finance, Economic Planning, and Revenue Management docket.
- Mrs. Rose Mawia Mutuku, CECM nominee, Trade, Industry, MSMES, Innovation and Cooperatives docket.
- CPA Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, CECM nominee, Agriculture and Livestock docket.
